Engineering Sizing Basis & Compliance Standards

Post-Combustion Chemical Absorption Flue gas entering the packed column contacts lean aqueous amine solvent (e.g. 30 wt% MEA or promoted piperazine). CO2 reacts reversibly to form carbamates. The rich solvent is pumped to a stripper reboiler at 120°C (248°F) where thermal energy desorbs high-purity (99.5%+) CO2 gas for compression.
Direct Concrete Mineralization In ready-mix concrete batching, captured CO2 is injected into the mixer during batching. The CO2 reacts instantaneously with calcium ions in wet cement to form nano-calcium carbonate (CaCO3). This permanently traps the carbon (non-leachable) while increasing compressive strength by 10%–15%, enabling cement content reductions.
Internal Revenue Code Section 45Q The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) boosted 45Q credit rates to $85/metric tonne for permanent geological storage (Class VI deep saline aquifers) and $60/metric tonne for utilization/mineralization. The minimum annual threshold for commercial industrial facilities was reduced to 12,500 tonnes/yr with direct pay elective.
