1. Outdoor Setback Distances (NFPA 58 § 8.4 Compliance)

Exchange cage shall be placed on an outdoor non-combustible concrete pad situated at least 5 feet from any building entrance/exit, window, or HVAC air intake if storing ≤720 lbs of LP-Gas (approx. 36 20-lb cylinders), and at least 10 feet from any flammable liquid storage or motor vehicle fuel dispenser.

2. Vehicular Impact Protection (4-Inch Steel Crash Bollards)

If the exchange cage is positioned adjacent to parking stalls or vehicular drive aisles, host property shall permit installation of concrete-filled 4-inch Schedule 40 steel crash bollards positioned at least 3 feet from the front and corners of the cage to absorb vehicular collisions.

3. Tamper-Proof Electronic Lockout & Ventilation

The kiosk cage must be constructed from heavy-gauge galvanized steel with a minimum 50% open ventilation mesh on all four sides. Electronic solenoid door locks must fail in the locked state during power outages, and all electrical telemetry components must be Class I, Division 2 intrinsically safe.

4. OPD Valve & DOT Hydrostatic Certification Mandate

Operator guarantees that 100% of cylinders distributed through the automated kiosk are equipped with functioning Overfill Prevention Devices (OPD with triangular handwheel), pristine neoprene valve gaskets, and carry active DOT-4BA hydrostatic test stamps within legal requalification windows.

5. Emergency Signage & Fire Marshal Placarding

Cage exterior must clearly display OSHA/NFPA compliant 4-inch warning decals stating "FLAMMABLE GAS - NO SMOKING - NO OPEN FLAMES WITHIN 25 FEET", an NFPA 704 standard diamond (Health: 1, Flammability: 4, Instability: 0), and an illuminated 24/7 emergency response dispatch telephone number.
